 Alliance The Paladin Prophecy

By: Mark Frost

In this thrilling action seeking sequel of the Paladin Prophecy series Mark Frost takes you on an amazing journey that you are sure to remember.

Will West and his friends have found out about a secret organization called the Knights and how they have despicable plans for the world and the people on it. They must figure out their strengths and weaknesses if they have any chance of defeating this mysterious band. And will an unexpected contact change what they must do? This is all to be determined.

This book is an amazing book with a unique combination of mystery, heart-pounding action, and the supernatural. I think that this book really puts a good picture in your head of whats happening. The characters are all unique in there own way and play a pig part in which directions this book will turn. I recommend this book series to anyone who likes either mystery, heart-pounding action, or the supernatural. I would also recommend it to anyone who like fantasy books.

In the book Will has a book of rule that his dad gave him to live by. Rule number 74 says "99 Percent of the things you worry about never happen. Does that mean worrying works or that its a complete waste of time and energy? You decide." This is at a moment in the book when he is worrying about what to do and remembers this rule. He decides not to worry and go along with it. To me this rule makes it sound like worrying is a waste of time and energy that we could spend doing something else. Worrying can sometimes cause a person not to do something they need to because they are worried that it will have a negative effect even though it most likely wont.

His father is a skilled tomahawk thrower and saves Caje's life. Just as they are about to be free, his father has an Indian over his head with tomahawk ready. It is not up to Caje to save his fathers life just as he had saved his. From the bottom of the cliff Caje saves his fathers life and they move on to a settlement and find Caje's dead mothers family. Caje is left alone and becomes the man of the house after his uncle breaks his leg. He is eating their food when it should be going to their stomachs and he wants to leave. But his dream is coming true and doesn't know if he wants to leave it.

I loved reading this book because I was always wanting to read it. I loved the action and the choices that Caje and his father made. It had a really good ending. I don't think that it could have been any better. I would recomend this book to anyone who loves the woods, hunting, farming, and adventure. I would read this book again any day. A quote from the book is... "And here I was thinking, That im so lucky to have a strong boy like you around. I hope you don't leave."

Alex Rider Stormbreaker

Stormbreaker review by Tyler Anderson

Anthony Horowitz's Stormbreaker form the Alex Rider series is an action packed novel with a sci-fi theme and a mystery story along with it. If you like sci-fi novels, this is the one for you.

Alex is a blonde haired, British teen that is more of a serious person. The story begins with Alex living in his Aunt and Uncles house. One night Alex awakes to a doorbell ring he opens the door to see two police officers standing at the door. News is delivered to Alex and his Aunt that his uncle, Ian Rider has died. After a while, Alex is called to an organization to become a spy. Alex has an advantage because he took a lot of karate when he was younger and that helps him along the way. They tell him of an invention being made that they fear could bring bad things upon the world. This machine is called the Stormbreaker. The rest of the story is great with Alex getting gadgets to help him. I highly recommend this book. One quote that i like from this book is "Your never too young to die."

I enjoyed this book greatly because it always has the perfect way to end a chapter an leave you thinking "I gotta read some more." But another thing is that if you finish this book, most likely you enjoyed it. Which means you can read this book without reading the next. Consider reading Point Blanc, which is book 2.

This book has a lot of details in it, and he uses very clever words! My favorite quote in the book is, "The lights grow brighter as the earth lurches away from the sun." when I read this, a picture came to my head of new york city lights at night, its such a short sentence but is very meaningful and intense.

Divergent

Divergent by Veronica Roth is set in futuristic Chicago where this Utopian society is cut off from the world and split into five factions that focus on a different virtue. Abnegation- the selfless, Amity- the peaceful, Erudite- the knowledgeable, Candor- the honest, and Dauntless- the brave.

When Beatrice Prior (Tris) turn 16, she has to make the choice to either stay with her family in Abnegation or choose one of the other factions. The only problem is that Tris is Divergent, meaning that she fits into two or more factions, and poses as a threat to this society. Wanting to be free and hidden, Tris chooses Dauntless, but it isn't what she expected.

The new Dauntless have to go through an initiation and it isn't as easy as the other factions. They have to learn how to fight, shoot a gun, face their fears, and  be brave. Through out this Tris makes some friends (Christina, Will, Al, and Four),some enemies (Peter, Molly, and Drew), and begins to learn that to be brave you have to be smart, honest, peaceful, and selfless.

A quote/saying that I thought was important to the book was, "Fear doesn't shut you down, it wakes you up". In other words, when facing your fears take control of them and don't let them show you up. To me, this was a great quote.

This is a great book for anyone! No matter if you like poetry, history, or fantasy, I promise you'll love this book. It not only is a good read, but teaches important lessons that everyone can live by. It has adventure, mystery, and a bit of romance and is just an amazing book!

Looking for Alaska

In this book, looking for Alaska, a young boy named Miles leaves home for the first time to go to a private school in a different state. He soon meets the Colonel, his mad genius roommate with a smoking problem. Miles also meets Alaska, a loud mouthed beautiful girl with no idea of how her life will continue, so she insists on living in the moment. As time goes on Miles, or Chubs as he is now called by his friends, begins to love his new life at the school and starts living life to the fullest. Halfway through the year Miles is struck with heartbreak when he loses his first love. For the rest of the year he will fall, and arise again and again until he can overcome the things that he must now live with and begin the next chapter of his life.
This book is one of my favorites. The characters are beautiful and seemly real. Alaska strongly relates to many of my family members, as she smokes, drinks and has made too many bad life choices to count, however she is still a happy person and knows that life is what she will make it, so why not make it perfect for her; that is very familiar to me because peoples are not all dark and evil nor light and good, the word is painted with swaths of gray. Not only are the characters colorful, but the emotions they express are ones that only a human who has struggled through puberty can understand. Angst. Pain. Heartbreak. Joy. The urge to break things. All of John Greens words in this book make me feel something; and that is the whole purpose of literature, and entertainment in general; to make you audience feel something.

"To be continued" and "Poof"
This has got to be John Greens favorite saying when writing this book. It was tirelessly used over and over and over again. I believe that every time that he wrote these words, he had the same meaning; that every time a person says goodbye we are promising that something will be continued between the two, whether it be to finish an art assignment or to continue their budding romance, the word goodbye is truly to be continued. however "Poof" is just another way things can go wrong. It is his way of saying that "To be continued" will never happen, it will just go"Poof" and life will be continued, just with a few "Poof"s in the mix.

I recommend this book to the select audience of teenagers who are interested in; angst, awkward love, stupidity and underage drinking and smoking. This book doesn't have anything specific for males or females. WARNING: this book contains lots sexual content, a an overabundance of swearing, smoking and underage drinking. If you are not comfortable with any of those elements then do not read this book.

Hugo Cabret

So this book is about a boy named Hugo. He lives in a train station working on the clocks and keeps them running. Well you are probably wondering why he is there. Well his father worked at a museum and he was in the attic and found a mechanical man that could write and Hugo really wanted to see what it would write. For his birthday his dad was going to give the mechanical man do him after he fixed it. Well one day he was staying a little late and the guard came and looked him in the attic not knowing that he was in there. Then the museum took fire and Hugo's dad died in the fire. well Hugo was waiting for his dad is uncle came in and told him that his dad had died and he is going with him so they moved to the train station. Then when is uncle left one night he never came back but Hugo still would wind and check the clocks. He would take his uncles pay checks each week so they would think he was not gone. But he did not know how to cash them in so he just left in his room. Then he went back to were the museum burnt and found the mechanical man siting under some burnt building peaces so he took it home for him self to fix. then there is this toy both next to where he lives and he steals toys to put some of its gears for the mechanical man and Ill end here.

One of my favorite quotes in the book is Hugo thinks to him self that "The automation was not fixed. There must have been something I had missed. He had failed". I like this quote because he judged himself to quickly and its a good lesson to learn to not judge your self to quickly. I like the place that it is in because I like how he doesn't really make the place up its based off real places because when you think train station you think its in the middle of the city there is allot of booths and stores and entertainment places you think of the one big clock tower and then all the little ones around so it makes you feel like your in a real place. I really like this book because it seems like the book is about to end but then it starts part 2 of the book. If you like drama and allot of tense sense you love this book.
